From MC Lyte to Carde B, woman have proven their ability to thrive in an industry where they have been second class artist and exploited. Which is why G.E.M. “The Artist”, decided to pick up a microphone and put to test her lyrical prowess. As form of art and cultural activity, music is a major part of the daily life of many people. The demand for music consumption has created a billion-dollar global music industry, which encompasses music production and distribution, major record companies – Warner Chappell, Universal, and Sony/ATV being the largest music publishers in the world – live concerts, along with other music-related activities. In the U.S., the music industry was estimated to generate about 17.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2016.

G.E.M. “The Artist” will be disclosing the industries dark secrets and how hard it is to make it in a male saturated field. But (“G.E.M. “The Artist” refused to sell out and get into the industry the easy way. She is driven to make her own way and create her own destiny. Staying positive and maintaining her beliefs has been the cornerstone to her success.

Her style is INTERNATIONAL HIP HOP, Hip hop or hip-hop is a subculture and artist movement developed in New York during the late 1970’s. The origins of the word are often disputed. Some believe that the word was invented by Keith Cowboy of The Furious Five. Others believe it was a derogatory name for the people who practice the art and wear the relative clothing. It is also argued as to whether hip hop started in the Bronx.  While the term hip hop is often used to refer exclusively to hip hop music (also commonly referred to as rap), hip hop is characterized by nine elements, however only four elements are considered most necessary to understand hip-hop musically. The main elements of hip-hop consist of four main pillars. The 5th element is commonly considered either street knowledge, hip hop attire or beat boxing however it is often debated. Nevertheless, G.E.M. “The Artist” sees it as a platform to deliver her message to the world.

G.E.M. “The Artist” has been compared to having the style of Nicki Minaj, but she feels like there aren’t any female rap artist with the dynamic range and skills that she brings to the stage. Look out for her newest hot releases, BLIND SIDED, SEXY IN THE CLUB, and SNEAKER FREAK.
